An interview questionnaire from Smashwords. Learn a little more about me
I love drawing portraits of my characters.
If I really had a choice, ignoring cost of gas and supplies. I love exploring the Olympic mountains in Washington. I’ve got my modded Toyota with a roof top tent so I can set up camp wherever I want.
I love paper books over ebooks. I also listen to audio books so I can get some books done on my commute to work. I choose them through recommendations, or randomly find them on the sale section at a used book store. A few of my favorite series I found by my favorite singer Beth Crowley writing a song about them.
I think there’s some story about a dolphin that I wrote in marker in early early grade school.
Stare at wall while Listening to music. Stare at ceiling while listening to music. Scene comes together in my head. Push pause on music to hear my thoughts clearly and write. I’m a big fan of handwriting, so my rough drafts are all done in cursive in journals. Those are bare minimum information of the scene. Dialogue. Positioning. Mood. The. I type it out, add details, metaphors, analogies. Then I go over that to fix the wording make it flow, or add even more detail.
No clue. I’ve always liked reading. In 10th grade I got in trouble in math class because I was caught reading.
I do remember being a fan of goosebumps, dolphin tales and the Pokémon books
Maze runner series. It was one of the first series where I really felt attached to the characters and felt what they felt. I have a tattoo on my leg inspired by it.
I love Cassandra Clare’s books. The whole world she has built. I use her series as a writing study guide.
The Red Queen. Team Maven all the way. I always love a good antagonist.
Anything that will completely separate me from reality
There's this bench like thing attached to the wall beneath the fireplace. I like sitting on the ground with my laptop on it. Especially during the winter with a wood fire going.
I was late to the discovery that I always loved writing. The evidence is all over my schoolwork and journals. I was just too oblivious to see it as an option. But I’m also glad I waited, the story I put out here has a deeper complexity and realism to the characters personalities that wasn’t in my initial short story years prior. That was gained through life experiences and the guidance of the people around me
